Anti-Racism Commitment

We believe that all people deserve access to high-quality, evidence-based treatment for their mental health and wellbeing.

However, we also understand that due to historical injustices and systematic inequality, this basic resource has been largely inaccessible to people of color.

At IHC, we are committed to addressing these injustices and advocating for those who have been affected by systemic racism. We will continually work to dismantle damaging beliefs and implicit biases both within the community and within our own practice.

Land Acknowledgement & Commitment Statement

At Integrative Health Consultants, we respectfully acknowledge that our office stands on the ancestral homelands of the Three Fires Confederacy: the Ojibwe, Odawa, and Potawatomi peoples, who have been the original inhabitants and enduring stewards of this land.

We specifically recognize the Grand River Bands of Ottawa Indians and the Nottawaseppi Huron Band of the Potawatomi, whose ancestors cared for and sustained the Grand River—known as Owashtenong—and the surrounding valley for generations. We honor their deep and ongoing relationship to this land.

We acknowledge the history of systemic displacement and the enduring impacts of broken treaties, including the Treaty of Chicago (1821) and the Treaty of Washington (1836), which led to the forced removal of many Indigenous peoples from this region. We recognize that these injustices are not confined to the past, but continue to shape present realities.

We affirm our commitment to honoring the sovereignty, resilience, and cultural vitality of Indigenous nations, who remain an essential part of the West Michigan community today. We are dedicated to building respectful relationships with Indigenous communities, including the Grand River Bands of Ottawa Indians and other nations, and to supporting their continued presence and leadership.

As a healthcare practice, we commit to providing culturally responsive care, engaging in ongoing learning, and practicing cultural humility. We seek to deepen our understanding of Indigenous perspectives through our clinical services, community partnerships, and meaningful engagement.

We honor the histories, traditions, and contributions of Indigenous peoples—past, present, and future—and recognize our shared responsibility to care for this land. This acknowledgment is one step in our ongoing commitment to equity, justice, and the active dismantling of systems that perpetuate harm and erasure.

We encourage all who live and work here to learn about the land they call home and to recognize and support the Indigenous peoples who continue to steward it.
